I mean, the internet is so big! And there are so many wrong people on it!

We just can't let them continue being wrong in their wrongness!

I could be either of those people.

Which is probably healthier than always being the one in front of the computer, writing angry comments on blogs at 11:45 p.m.!

OMG I know, that's me too. I am embarrassed at how angry I get arguing with people on the internet. Now, I just try to avoid it whenever possible.

I know, me too -- I've cut back on my blog reading, and cut way back on blog comment reading.

Hehehe -- yeah, comments on big public blogs are almost never worth it.

I think the only public blog I regularly comment on nowadays is The Rage Diaries (http://schmeiser.typepad.com/), which is pretty small. It used to be more, though -- where did I find the time?

Thank you! I have a new comic to add to my list of favorites.

Yay!

And you must see this one (http://www.xkcd.com/54/) -- it's classic.

But don't forget these two!

Heh, I could totally see you doing that! =)

Didn't you used to collect a list fundie or anti-science web sites? It was a competition with someone else, right?

From: [identity profile] rms10.livejournal.com
I did! And there was no competition -- it was for the sheer joy of mocking the creationists.

(Wow, I used to have a lot of spare time.)

Well, speaking as the person who usually reads the comments, I suspect I am the "Someone is wrong on the internet!" person. But we do alternate days.

I know, alas. And unfortunately, Vandy isn't alone -- I had that happen to me in undergrad, and I'm sure most women in physics have similar stories.

The author/artist, Randall Munroe once did a fantastic impromptu talk at Google, much of which was Q&A. One of the earlier questions was "Are you stalking me?", to which he revealed that that's his most commonly received question.

Later on in the talk, he's referring to the Ballmer Peak strip, and how some friends talked him into testing this recently, and how they very unscientifically attempted plotting out some data while getting Randall more and more drunk. A few minutes later in the talk, one of the Googlers managed to get their data up on one of the projection screens. Randall was pretty blown away, saying something to the affect of "How did you get this? We did it maybe 3 days ago! On *paper*! Clearly, you guys are the ones stalking me!"
