We have finally set the date for the wedding -- September 16, 2006. Hooray! We had everything else ready -- the deacon and the rabbi were both free that day, and the reception hall we wanted was open -- but the priest we had to talk to about scheduling was in Rome. For two weeks. Aaaargh.

But. He's back! We have the church, the officiants, the hall, and my baptismal certificate is en route to the deacon. So we are not worrying about anything else until January, which is another cause to celebrate.

Meanwhile, we will be celebrating Thanksgiving with both of our families, here in Ann Arbor. This will be the first official meeting of the parents, and we're actually all looking forward to it. It might be because we're too busy worrying about the turkey to worry about our parents, but I really think they're going to get along well. I'm just really excited about bringing our families togther to celebrate Thanksgiving in our home -- it feels like a concrete step towards marriage.

Congratulations! That's fabulous news. Hope the parents meeting goes very well, mine was interesting but I think it will all turn out very well.

Oh and that's the day before my parents' 40th wedding anniversary, so it's a very good time of year for being married.

We're getting a fresh turkey. It'll be okay in the fridge for two days, right?

(Not. Panicking. Not. Panicking. Pffft, it's not like I'm the one cooking the turkey, anyways.)

Wow. You have a fridge big enough to fit the Turkey in? :) Sounds like you're on the right track. Remember that there is a lot of patient waiting involved with cooking a large bird so just plan ahead and relax.

Um. Maybe? Crap. Now I'm not sure. We did buy a giant bucket for brining the turkey, though.

We have snacks, four bottles of wine, and two bottles of champagne. For eight people. I think we'll be just fine. :)

Oh, that's so wonderful! :) Have a happy Turkey Day. (I'm a wee bit jealous, I confess; I'll be doing Thanksgiving sans family yet again.) Is your brother coming too?

Yes, my brother is coming, as is Eli's sister. Wheee!

And, much to my embarrassment, I haven't seen my brother since July. Eeeek! He was in England for a month, but that's not really an excuse.
