Little Leo was born on Election Day! November 6, 2012, at 3:52 p.m. Only four days late this time! 7 lb 6 oz, 19.5 inches long, full head of dark hair, and totally adorable.

I'll post a longer birth story later, but in short: between his perfect position (anterior) and it being the second child, giving birth was no problem. The postpartum hemorrhage (AGAIN), not so much.

We're all settling in at home. Sam is a very sweet big brother. Nursing is going well. I actually got a three-hour chunk of sleep last night, and some coffee this morning, so my brain is almost working.

As soon as we calculated the due date (which was 11/2), the first thing we said was, "absentee ballots!"

He is adorable! And, of course, as he grows up, you will tell him the story of how he was born on a truly magical day.

He really doesn't look like Sam at all, does he?

Yes, what a day to be born!

It's amazing how he looks nothing like Sam. We also can't tell if he looks more like me or Eli.

I should add that I have a soft spot for the name Leo since it was the name of my paternal grandpa's only brother. That Leo lived on farm spending 95% of his life inside those 40 acres as kind of the anchor for the extended family.

Yes, this! What a grown up looking newborn!

Ditto to the person who observed he doesn't look like Sam!

There's something about his eyes -- on those rare occasions that he's awake and not eating, his eyes seem very bright and alert.

Thank you! And camera angles are weird -- he looks huge in the picture, but seems so tiny in real life!

Yeah, I was thinking that he hardly looks like new born as well. Combination of those bright eyes and all that hair! My nephew, who is now 7 months old, doesn't have close to that much hair (though I guess that might run in the family as I was mostly bald until I was like 2 years old). Congrats again to all of you :)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Sorry I haven't had a chance to say it yet- but he's adorable and I'm glad everything went well! Best wishes for settling in quick and having lots of good bonding time!
